Like all other banking institutions offering their services to the public in India, the IDBI Bank is a participant in the national payment settlement platforms like the Immediate Payment System (IMPS), the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) and National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT). As part of this payment settlement platform, all of the branches of participating banks are assigned unique identification codes known as the Indian Financial System Codes of IFSC Codes. These codes play an important role in the transfer of funds from one account to the other. They act as a confirmation to the incoming funds that they are being deposited into the correct account. In addition to the above vital function, they also serve the purpose of allowing the RBI to monitor banking transactions with accuracy and identify trends and for purposes of general maintenance.
